Daisy Roots HQ...Explore where the Magic Happens! - Plus win your own pair!

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Daisy Roots HQ!

For those of you that haven't heard of them before, Daisy Roots are the leading designers in baby footwear which include their original leather shoes and slippers. Based about 30 minutes from us in the heart of rural Northamptonshire their little store/factory/office is really quaint. Hard to believe it is the hub of such a well known brand!

Daisy Roots have been designing and manufacturing their unique products since 1995 utilising knowledge from top podiatrists and working closely with parents to ensure the best quality and fit for those tiny tootsies!

We were greeted at the store by the lovely Lisa (Below) who welcomed us in from what was a torrential downpour and what a warm welcome it was! Ted gave her a cuddle within seconds of us being in the door!

The building used to be a small supermarket but you would never have guessed it. This quirky little building with a spacious shop front, offices and a production room out the back is the perfect base for such a family friendly brand.

I had a browse of the store where I fell in love with no end of products. They don't just have the shoes and slippers but stationery, clothing, toys and so much more.

My favourite item was this dinosaur lunch box which will be perfect for Ted's Bento lunches!

After having a look at all the great stock I was invited to see where the magic happens!

I was amazed by all the gorgeous leathers piled up ready to make fresh new shoes from and they had such a huge array of colours. I got to see the huge cutting machine which was used to cut out all the weeny pieces to make each shoe, even little noses on teddy bears all needed to be cut out from the leather before heading over to be sewn on.

Next all the parts had to be sewn together, this job looks so difficult to me as I have only just about mastered sewing a finger puppet with my machine! So, all the leather shapes get stitched together, designs and all, with their own gold leather soles which are unique to Daisy Roots. Each sole is embossed with their brand name and the ones sold to the UK say Handmade in Northamptonshire with the international stock saying Handmade in England!

I got a sneak peek at a new design they are hoping to release...
can you guess what it is?

Here are just some of the wonderful designs they have produced over the years...what a cool way to utilise space!

One of Daisy Roots top sellers besides the shoes and slippers are their comfort blankets/taggies which are super soft and as with all their products have totally original designs. They use a fab piece of kit which is an embroidery printer. You input the design you want and the machine embroiders it onto the blanket! They use this for their personalised shoes too.

Finally once all the products are made they are stuffed and packaged ready to send to their lovely customers. Each box has a little picture of whats inside...I need to steal this idea for my craft boxes!

While at the store we tried several pairs of shoes for Ted, some of you may know the endless battle we are having to find him shoes. He has size 7H feet but an unbelievably high instep meaning finding shoes to fit really is an exhausting process. With big brands like Clarks and Brantano being unable to help and us having to resort to trying on every pair we see with the hope they might fit we really are struggling.

The staff at Daisy Roots couldn't have been more helpful, they tried a few pairs on then decided they would attempt to make him some shoes from the bigger children's range. Unfortunately with his feet being such an odd size it was not possible to make them fit with the sizes they had but we are so grateful that they tried their best to help. Finally we received some comments other than "his feet will get better as he slims down" which we got from a sales assistant recently....completely ridiculous as his instep is the way his bones have grown and his weight will make no difference! Anyway I am ranting!

We love the team at Daisy Roots and it was so special to get an insight into how their products are made, something I hope you have enjoyed reading and as a treat for you all, the team have offered a pair of shoes for one of my readers!

  6. I used to fit kids shoes for a living and so I understand how frustrating for parents it can be when nothing seems to fit! Poor little mite, being told he'll need to slim down to get shoess, bless him. No amount of slimming down will fix a high instep, what a silly sales assistant! x

I would choose the pink bunnyhead ones for my baby niece.
