Giraffe Restaurant Review and Mothers Day Offer!

giraffe - Love Eat Live
Last weekend Ted and I went on a little date with Nana! We went to try out some of the latest dishes in Giraffe restaurant in Milton Keynes. We enjoyed a shop around the city centre first which proved to be quite evenful but that's a whole other post!

We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who showed us to our 'booth' (which made me quite happy as I really dislike sitting in the middle of a room) and found a high chair for Ted. We took a look at the menu and decided to go for the Feel Good Menu which was a great price at £9.95 for a starter and a main.

The manager was attracted by our blue eyed boy. We had visited a few weeks ago and she was there then, he had lots of smiles for her that day but unfortunately this time all the shopping had worn him out and all he wanted was his dinner. She quickly asked if we wanted to put his order through before ours and I gratefully accepted the offer.

I originally wanted to get the Grilled Salmon and Brown Rice for him as it sounded super healthy and really tasty but I was advised they were all out of Salmon so I settled on Pizza Bites, Fries and Salad. For £4.95 the kids meals come with a drink of your choice from the menu shrunk down for a little portion! The Strawberry and Banana smoothie was recommended by the waitress so we went for one of those.

Ted settled down to playing with the crayons, with a little help from Nana and we chose our food. Mum decided to go for a Smoked Mackerel Salad followed by 'Katsu' Japanese Pork Schnitzel and I quickly chose Curried Parsnip Soup and the Grilled Chicken Paillard.

We sipped on our virgin cocktails...Strawberry Smashes all round! These were a little on the sour side for my Mum with a combination of Soda, Strawberry, Lemon and Mint but I am a big Mojito fan so it was perfect for me!

Our starters arrived along with Teds dinner which he promptly tucked into...cheese topping first! My soup was delicious, perfectly spiced and really comforting. It was accompanied by ciabatta garlic bread which was lovely. Mum's salad looked really healthy and the combination of smoked mackerel and beetroot wasn't one she had tried before but definitely will be making it at home!

Starters finished we had a little natter and the mains arrived in less than 5 minutes which was quite a surprise! I must admit my meal was far from the picture on the menu. The chicken breast was quite small and the sauce was more a spoonful spreaded over the top. The salad and fries looked nice but I couldn't help but wonder what made this a Feel Good meal.

Mum's meal looked colourful and inviting. The pork schnitzel sat on a bed of noodles and stir fried vegetables and were all tossed in a satay like sauce. The sauce was a little oily but the pork and vegetables were nicely cooked and the portion size was just right.

Ted continued to devour his pizza and salad and chips and then tried a little of ours. There were lots of Mmm noises so I think he approved despite the floor getting fed along the way!

I was a little disappointed with my meal I have to say as the chicken really was quite dry but perhaps that was down to how quickly it arrived. I would have been happy to wait a little longer for something more satisfying.

Full to the brim we decided not to go for a dessert but they did look scrummy and it's really quite hard for me to turn down Key Lime Pie (or Dexter pie as us geeks fans call it!).

I cannot fault the staff at Giraffe and I am sure most of you would assume they were so friendly because we were reviewing but having been to the restaurant previously and them being just as nice I think the customer service is genuinely at that high standard. The manager also advised me at the end that she hadn't made the staff aware of our visit so any friendliness was most definitely natural!

I love the atmosphere in Giraffe restaurants and if I had to explain them to someone who hasn't visited before I would say the atmosphere is like Nando's but quieter and less manic! The music is upbeat and happy but not too full on and the restaurant interior is laid back and modern with a funky twist.

Giraffe describe their restaurants as...

Freshly cooked food for everyone served to the sound of great music — guaranteed to make you feel good!
I agree :)
