So Christmas and New Year have come and gone. Did you all eat drink and be merry?
We were so spoilt with good food over the festive season it was wonderful. We had a vegan Christmas at the In-Laws and a second Christmas at New Year with my family where we had home made kebabs New Years Eve and Roast Lamb with all the trimmings on New Years Day.
Being a meat eater I always worry about whether my meat is cooked properly and with the possibility of food poisoning lurking around every corner it is important be on the ball in the kitchen.
OXO offer a huge range of kitchen essentials which are beautifully designed and so comfortable to use.
This Digital Instant Read Thermometer is fantastic. I have wanted to try one since seeing Heston use one on his show. I thought they were just for professional chefs and would be hugely over priced but this one from OXO is just £15.50 and a must have gadget.
We love a good steak in our house and with a digital thermometer you can guarantee the perfect steak every time! Here is a simple break down of temperatures for beef steaks.
Rare - 52 degrees C
Medium rare - 54 degrees C
Medium - 60 degrees C
Medium well - 65 degrees C
Well done - 70 degrees C
With the temperature range from -40° to 150° C you can use the thermometer to temper chocolate too. This is something I thought I would never be able to do but will be trying it with my next batch of chocolate treats!
